Lyndon
v Shea
Road Accident Victim awarded £3.5 million compensation.
High Court - June 2003
Janet Lyndon, a nurse and midwife,
from Peterborough, was driving on
the A16, near Boston, Lincolnshire,
in December 1997 when another car
crashed into hers. The Court heard
that a car driven by Sylvia Shea pulled out of a junction, causing another vehicle to swerve, lose control and collide with Mrs. Lyndon's
car.
The
accident caused Mrs Lyndon severe brain injury -
she is now permanently disabled and she can only use her left hand and is almost blind in one eye.
She was in a coma for a long time with a fractured skull.
She is substantially dependent on the care of others and requires virtually 24-hour supervision.
Ms Shea's motor insurers admitted liability for the
accident and agreed to a £3.5 million settlement.
