Accident Victim awarded £1.5m
Lee Sayers, a trainee chef, was a passenger in a car driven by
a friend, Samantha Baker, when the car hit another head-on on the A44 between Enstone and Woodstock
in December 1995.
Sayers,
who was only 17 years old at the
time of the accident, suffered horrific injuries after
the head-on collision. Baker’s motor insurers admitted liability and the sum was determined after negotiations outside court.
The court heard that Sayers’ injuries were life threatening and his career ambitions had been shattered by the accident. At the time he suffered broken bones and damage to his internal organs plus brain damage. As a result he is mentally impaired and has a shorter attention span. He will never realise his dream of becoming a chef.
The money will be invested in the Court of Protection which means
Sayers will not have direct access to it.
