Road safety work to get underway. More than £1m is to be spent on safety and resurfacing work on two trunk roads in Cumbria.
The £620,000 work on the A66 includes resurfacing projects and interactive signs to warn drivers when they are exceeding the speed
limit - where there have been a
series of road
accidents.
A further £560,000 has been put aside to resurface sections of the A590.
The work, which will involve lane closures and contra-flow
systems is being carried out in January to avoid disrupting the tourist season.
