Accident
Updates: 7 July 2005
Five killed as two cars collide.
Five people have been killed and another is in a serious condition after a two-car crash in Cumbria. It happened when a Suzuki Vitara and a Honda, carrying
4 people, collided on the A6 at Scalesceugh near Carlisle.
All the occupants of the Honda, who were from the Penrith area, died at the scene and the 72-year-old driver of the Suzuki, from Dalston, died in hospital. The car, which was travelling towards Carlisle, burst into flames after it collided with the Suzuki. The crash happened on the same stretch of road where three men were killed in a head-on collision in 2004. The four victims travelling in the Honda - two men and two women - are thought to have been in their late teens or early
twenties.
